Does this mean that Kona could have a copy of XP that he is not authorized to have?
on Sep 22, 2003
Its been a long time I do not remember where I bought it. I never have had to call Microsoft to activate windows. Everytime I run the activation thing it says XP is already activated.

Actually I remember getting it from a friend if that helps you all understand. i brought my PC to him for repair and he put XP on it, all activated. He gave me a copy of it. The copy dosn't work now BTW. So I am stuck in 98kona0197 land for now even if I did build a new system.

what does it matter Jesse? the whole point is I am not using XP and it is not installed on anything I own so who cares? Microsoft could come to my house and find nothing.

...but if you still have that CD, so if you are not authorized to have it then that is an illegal copy you have in your house.

So you were going to build a "cutting edge system" using a Celeron processor and a scratched up illegal copy of WinXP?

Hey Tech when did you get promoted?

Last time I checked you were just as bad (if not worse) than me on some threads. Besides you have not been here as long as me. And you even got exiled once.

??????????

Legolas probably has a legal copy of XP which does require activation but just activated itself over the internet like mine did a long time ago. It's never required me to phone Microsoft. I believe it does that if you move it to another PC or make some very significant changes to the hardware in the box.

Pipowell...

Here is whats up just to clear some heads. I took my brand new (built it myself) PC to a good friend of mine who works on PC's. I had ME installed at that time. He upgraded it to XP I found out after i got it home and burned me a copy of it. From time to time I had to borrow the original (the shiny holographic one I soke of) for recovery issues. I am not using XP right now and have not used it for months (about 6 months now) due to 2 facts. 1. I have not got a machine capable or worthy enough to use it and 2. Since it is a illeagal copy (the one I have that was made for me) I quit using it. I am strongly against Waraz and Pirated software so why would I continue to use a copy of XP? I have since gotten rid of the copy because it no longer even boots because the way it was burned screwed it up and it is TO scatched. But that was in the past. Now I am using the OS that came with my laptop (from ebay I might add) witch is 98 SE.

I plan on buying a prebult Sony or Dell to avoid setup and other headaches. And then my XP will be legal and that will make everything OK once again.

Oh I would like to add i used that version of XP for about a month before I got rid of it on that system. Shortly thereafter my system crashed for good and I got this Laptop. Before that system I had a emachines. i should have keep that emachines, I loved it.

Now that everyone knows the facts and that everyone knows I realize I was wrong, can we end this pointless Kona bashing? Everyone makes mistakes. The important thing is that I am no longer using a illeagal copy of XP but a legal version of 98 that came with my dell (on a Dell CD no less) and that I threw out my copy?

Comeon people, please leave me alone. I think I will go somewhere else for awhile. I have had enough of WC to last awhile. Maybe if I quit spending so much time here I will not be so angry all the time and have more time to concentrate on learning how to skin and making skins. Lord forbid the day I subscibe. It is coming pretty soon!

If I offended anyone, I am sorry. I know you all could care less. Now can we please get back to a topic that does not involve me?

I had no idea I was an Apprentice until I checked my profile. I have not submitted any artwork. The only contributions I have made to this site are financial support by purchasing Object Desktop, skin suites, and Wincustomize subscription and some help with technical support type questions. This is puzzling to me.

check you mail Jesse. Thanks.

I am off to bed, I have had enough for a day. No flaming me guys OK? I was honest here. If you all flame me for that than you all are not true friends, or civilized people. I know what i did wrong and I put a end to it long time ago, nuff said.
